Foundation, Community Relations & Social Impact Coordinator

The Foundation, Community Relations & Social Impact Coordinator will support several key department initiatives, including the Lightning Community Heroes program, sponsorships of charity events through the Tampa Bay community, the C.H.A.R.G.E. employee volunteer program, and Foundation fundraising efforts.  This position will report to the Manager, Lightning Foundation & Community Events and work closely with all members of Lightning Foundation, Community Relations & Social Impact team including the Executive Director of the Lightning Foundation as well as VSG’s Public Relations, Hockey Operations, Partnership Activation, and Community Hockey staff.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assist with Community Hero program, including maintaining the contact database of Community Heroes and non-profits as well as managing the on-going relationships with non-profits, the collection of donation follow-up reports of funding impact, and collection of Hero demographic data and social impact area
  • Work with Manager, Lightning Foundation & Community Events on preparing items for in-game auction as well as online auctions of specialty jerseys (e.g. Hockey Fights Cancer, Military) throughout the season; manage follow-up communication and pick-ups or shipments with auction winners
  • Work with Manager, Lightning Foundation & Community Events to execute in-game fundraising efforts, including the labeling, wrapping, selling and shipping of mystery pucks
  • Help oversee Foundation license plate fundraising program, including financial reporting and marketing efforts to increase license plate sales
  • Actively support all six Hockey is For Everyone (HIFE) committees at VSG/TBL: Hispanic Heritage, Black Heritage, PRIDE, Mental Health, Go Green, and Gender Equality. 
  • Manage calendar of charity event sponsorships, facilitate TBL/VSG representation at sponsored events, and work with charities to provide any necessary marketing collateral 
  • Assist with maintenance of database of C.H.A.R.G.E. volunteer program to help ensure organization reaches goal of 4.000 volunteer hours
  • Assist with inventory management of signed player and team-signed items, in preparation for donations to charity event auctions, as well as facilitating in-kind donation pickups
  • Coordinate Game Day collection & activation drives on the Plaza throughout the season including toy, food, and holiday drives 
  • Prepare donation tax receipts for Foundation auction winners and Foundation event supporters
  • Assist with tax paperwork for 50/50 raffle winners, coordinate with Finance and IRS submissions
  • Oversee the activation of the Foundation parking lots, including revenue and expense tracking
  • Assist with fundraising events and programs conducted by the Lightning Foundation, including the Bolt Run
  • Support execution of internal merchandise signings multiple times per year
  • Supply social media and web content for Community section of TBL website
  • Oversee VSG’s Employee Holiday Giving program
  • Prepare goodie bags and donation packs for player visits, school & hospital visits, and player programming
  • Execute select in-game Partnership Activation programming
  • Help distribute and manage Foundation and Community Relations department mail 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An utmost professional and positive demeanor
  • Individual must be extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and holidays while prioritizing multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of non-profit, sports, public relations, or marketing experience
